- It has a clear and deep water approach.
- Port is an all weather port.

Maximum operating area for berth nos 1,3 & 4 is as mentioned which is that: forward most point of 1st hatch to after most point of last hatch should not exceed the above mentioned lengths. if distance exceeds the mentioned limits then warping/shifting charges will be applicables per port tariff.
- NO. 1 Berth for discharging bulk cargoes with shore cranes - 171.5 mtrs.
- NO. 1 Berth for discharging bulk cargoes with shore cranes + excavators chargeable extra as per port tariff 178 mtrs.
- NO. 1 Berth for discharging break bulk cargoes with ships cranes 124 mtrs.
- NO. 3 Berth for discharging bulk cargoes with shore cranes 151.5 mtrs
- NO. 3 Berth for discharging bulk cargoes with shore cranes + excavators chargeable extra as per port tariff 158 mtrs.
- NO. 3 Berth for discharging break bulk cargoes with ships cranes 151.5 mtrs.
- NO. 4 Berth for discharging bulk cargoes with shore cranes 145 mtrs.

Penal berth hire rs.45000/= per hour+10.3% service tax (as per port tariff)
Usage of tugs for berthing/unberthing at various berths strictly as per port berthing policy in force with all charges for any additional tugs as per port policy/tariff as in force.
Master to ensure that vessels main engine is fully functional and occurrences of any stoppages or poor response should not take place at all. the master has to ensure that the vessels engine responds immediately during her berthing/ unberthing operations and any such occurrence will attract penal cold move charges as being levied by the port, which are very high ,being equivalent to additional min 2 times to max 5 times of pilotage charges, in addition to the normal pilotage charge, strictly as per port tariff. hence master to ensure that the vessels crew take all necessary precautions to ensure that their vessels engine.
All port charges are levied strictly as per port policy and port tariff as in force.

Total quay length of berth no 5 & 6 is 575 mtrs & berth 7 & 8 is 403 mtrs each in a straight line and hence more than two ships can be berthed in each.
Quay depending on load, subject to a minimum of 40 mtrs clearance between each vessel.
Total quay length of berth no 9, 10 & 11 is 795 mtrs in a straight line and hence more than three ships can be berthed in each quay depending on load, Subject to a minimum of 40 mtrs clearance between each vessel.
Applicable when vessel is unable to commence cargo operations within 2.0 hrs of all fast time.
Applicable when vessel is not ready to sail (i.e. fail to book outward pilot memo ) after 2 hours from the time of completion of cargo.
Applicable for all vessels if any stoppage is more than 2 hours due failure of vessel equipment,idling at berth or for any other reason.
Also applicable when vessel under-performance-as per new policy applicable wef 1/11/2011.
And other important machinery do not fail during the pilotage.
