Porbandar Port

PORT LOCATION AND LIMITIES

Porbandar port is all weather port direct berthing situated west coast of india facing arabian sea in position latitude 21 38 n longitude 69 37 e (indian hydrographic chart 204 & 205 ) between veraval and okha on the saurashtra coast of gujarat state.

PILOTAGE

Pilotage is compulsory. however, services of local pilots is by qualified master mariners can be had on request. also note that there is no night navigation pilotage only in day light & for loaded vessel berthing & unberthing during high tide only such a request should be addressed to local agents email : [email protected] master are advised to pass eta at least 72 hrs and update the same 48 hrs, 24 hrs, 12 hrs and 6 hrs prior to arrival.

ANCHORAGE

Anchorage with good holding ground can be found 1.5 nm from south east of break water.

BERTHS

Berth 1 (SCL JETTY) berth 2 (GMB JETTY) have a maximum allowed depth of 9.5 mtrs. maximum loa allowed both berth 200 mtr and beam no rectriction channel draft is 9.5 mtr. TIME : GMT = + 5 ½ PERMANENTLY.

WEATHER

Weather is seasonal and the port is subject to the south west monsoon between 15 may to 15 september during this period lightrage is probhited and pilot boarding inner harbours only.

TUGS

Two tug boats are available for berthing. tugs join the vessel at the break water. vessels are to use their own lines.

COMMUNICATIONS

By local agent only on channel number 16.


PORT HEALTH

All crew members are to be in possession of valid certificates for vaccination / inoculation, etc. free pratique is granted by the port authority.

CARGO HANDLING FACILITIES :

Scl jetty (saurashtra cement ltd.,private jetty). bulk cement loading, method of loading mechanical by truck & air slide system.

PROCEDURE OF LOADING

Loading from two silos through air slide system with an extension chute to the loading point and with bouzars / trucks of 40 ton each discharging through compressor connected with trucks & ship with the hose.average loading rate 5000 to 6000 mt.pwwd.

BULK CLINKER LOADING

Method of loading cement clinker in bulk by ship`s gear only if vessel is not grab fitted that loading carried out by shore steel tray conecting with ships crane (tilting system) average loading grab fitted vessel 10000 to 12000 mt. and without grab vessel 6000 to 8000 mt.pwwd.


BAGS CEMENT LOADING

Method of loading cement bags by ships gear only and average loading rate is 1800 mt to 2000 mt pwwd.


MAJOR COMMODITIES EXPORT AT SCL JETTY

Bulk cement / bulk clinker & bagged cement, gmb jetty (gujarat maritime board jetty) method of loading at gmb jetty throught out the ships gear only.


MAJOR COMMODITIES HANDLED

Bulk bauxite / soda ash in bags / salt in bulk & bags for export cargo and in import cargo coal in bulk / lpg gas & lime stone in bulk.


STEVEDORES

Minimum 48 hrs notice is required for arranging stevedoring lobour and gangs for handling cargo and ship gears.


BUNKER / PROVISIONS

Bunker / provisions can be arranged thru agent minimum 3 days notice is required.


FRESH WATER

Available on request within office hrs fm 0800 to 1700 hrs please inform to agents price for fresh water is $ 6 per ton supply by private tanker capacity of 10 mt each.


IMMOBILIZATION OF SHIPS

Strictly prohibited during the monsoon.

SHORE LEAVE

Prohibited for pakistani / srilanka / bangladesh /iraq / red chinese & sudanese for other shore leave available within time limit of 0800 to 2000 hrs.


AIRPORT

Is situated at porbandar is domestic airport which is 7 km away from port and connects to mumbai & there is daily flight for mumbai except saturday international airport is ahmedabad (450 kms) & mumbai (1000 kms).


REPATRIATION

Facilities available for effecting crew changes and except bangladeshi, red chinese, pakistani, sudanese, arrangements can be made for repatriation by us. immigration authorities are located at porbandar only.


CUSTOMS

A full- fledged customs house is located in the port area. and we should clear customs within 24 hours from the time of vessel arrival.
